歴史に残る傑作フライトジャケットのタイプA-2。前身のA-1はフロントボタン仕様であったがジッパーに変更されたそのスタイルは、後のフライトジャケットの方向性を決定付けるほどの完成度を誇っていた。飛行士が任務を快適に遂行できるよう極限まで無駄を排除してあり、フライトジャケットの中でも最も研ぎ澄まされた外観を持つ。このA-2に使用している馬革はイタリア産の原皮を樹皮から抽出した渋液で数ヶ月間に渡って鞣された後、アニリン染料を擦り込んでいる。この果てしない工程を経て仕上がった馬革は着用毎に表情が磨かれる。このジャケットは東洋エンタープライズ社誕生55周年を記念して製作されたスペシャルな1着で、そのライニングを飾るのはワークウェアブランド、シュガーケーンが忠実に再現した『トロイブランケット』。1940年代のワークウェアに用いられたこのブランケットは保温性もさることながら暖かみのある特有の色柄が非常に魅力的であり、古式ゆかしきジャケットには好相性。大戦中C.B.I.線区でブラッドチットをポケット代わりに縫い付けた偉大なる先人達へのオマージュとして、左身頃裏にはバズリクソンズとシュガーケーンのブランドが刻印されたホースハイドのポケットが縫い付けられている。

The A-2 flight jacket is widely considered to be a masterpiece that will forever go down in history. While the A-1 model, a predecessor of A-2, featured front button specifications, with A-2 the detail was replaced with a zipper, and it boasts a level of perfection that would later dictate the direction of subsequent flight jackets. All of the unnecessary details were stripped off to the limit to enable pilots to carry out their missions in comfort, and it boasts the most finely honed appearance among all other flight jackets. The horsehide used for this A-2 jacket was procured from rawhide sourced from Italy, which was then tanned for several months with an astringent liquid extracted from tree bark, before being treated with a unique aniline-dying process with hand-rubbed wax incorporated in the final phase. The texture and look of the finished horse leather produced from this lengthy process are enhanced with a bold yet polished look each time it is worn. This special jacket was produced to commemorate the 55th anniversary of Toyo Enterprise, and specially lined with the “Troy Blanket”, which was faithfully reproduced by our workwear brand, “Sugar Cane”. The “Troy Blanket”, which was used for workwear during the 1940s, excellently retains heat and is designed with a variety of unique color patterns that match well with traditional flight jackets. The horsehide pocket with the brand logos of Buzz Rickson’s and Sugar Cane engraved is sewn onto the lining as an homage to our great ancestors who had their “Blood chit” sewn to lining of their flight jackets to use as pockets while fighting on the frontlines in the China-Burma-India Theater of World War II.
