シャープな襟に特徴を持つJ.A.デュボウ社が手掛けた1941年12月契約のモデル。このモデルはA-2でデュボウ社が計４度契約の内の2度目にあたる言わばセカンドモデル。この頃からラベルには“陸軍航空隊所有権”を表すU.S.プロパティー表記が義務づけられ、それまで表記の無かったラベルに、別で用意されたプロパティーラベルが2段に重ねられて縫い付けられている。この２段ラベルの仕様はA-2の全41契約の中でラフウェア社の契約番号23380と、このジャケットの2種類しか存在していない。また、同契約のA-2には台襟有りのものとレギュラーカラーの2種類混同している点も実に興味深いところである。大戦当時に兵士達が着用したA-2を見ると、歴戦による擦れと皺が刻まれ、特有の色むらがある。このA-2に使用されている革は渋液で丹念に鞣された後に染料を刷り込み、手作業で色むらを着ける工程を経ている。この色むらに所有者だけが許される擦れと皺が増すことで、実物の持つ圧倒的なオーラに近付き、このジャケットは完成へと向かって行くのである。

This type A-2 jacket is so-called “Second model”, contracted by J.A. Dubow in December 1941.This A-2 model. From around this time, it was required to include a U.S. property sign that depicts “PROPERTY AIR FORCE U.S. ARMY” on the label. Thus, this model features the two-level labels, the property label was sewn with the main label. This feature is only seen in the Rough Wear 23380 and this jacket among all 41 contracts for A-2 jacket. It is also very interesting that one contractor had produced two different type of A-2 jackets, one with a collar band, and the other with a regular collar. On A-2 jackets worn by the soldiers during war, you will see many wrinkles and scratches caused by battles being engraved into them, and distinctive color-unevenness. The leather used for this A-2 was dyed after it was carefully tanned with an astringent, followed by a process to apply color-evenness to the surface by hand. The jacket would be closer to completion as more wrinkles and scratches are added on this unevenly colored leather.
