オーダーナンバーAC16159のA-2は、1941年にラフウェア社が軍に納入した最初期のファーストモデルである。ラフウェア社は1942年まで計5度もの納入を果たした。A-2のコントラクターとして名高いラフウェア社の特徴は、軍服らしい位置の高い襟付けと左右同じ身頃の型紙を使用している点にある（通常の型紙は左身頃に前立てがある分、前立ての分だけ大きい）。そのため、他のコントラクターと比較すると着心地はタイトであり、このフィッティングが支持される理由の一つかもしれない。このA-2にはイタリア産のホースハイドを樹皮から抽出した渋液で鞣し、染料に顔料を含ませたセミアニリン仕上げの革を使用している。染料は革の自然な風合いを活かした着色のため、着込んだ時の経年変化が顕著であり、一方の顔料は革の表面をコーティングするため雨や水分に強い。セミアニリン仕上げとは双方の長所を活かしたフィニッシュである。

The A-2 with a contract number of AC16159 was the first model delivered by Rough Wear to the Army in 1941. Rough Wear had completed a total of five deliveries until 1942. Rough Wear, which is a wellknown A-2 contractor, is characterized by the use of high collar and the same body pattern for the left and right side of the jacket. (With regular body patterns, there is a front placket on the left body, so the left side becomes wider than right side). Therefore, the fit of Rough Wear is tighter compared to the jackets manufactured by other contractors. However, this may be the reason why their A-2 have been popular. Italian horsehide of this A-2 was tanned with astringent liquid extracted from bark, and semi-aniline leather with pigments contained in the dye is used. The dyes have colors that utilize the natural texture of leather, so it would age spectacularly when worn over a long period of time, while pigments coat the surface of the leather making it resistant rain and moisture. This semi-aniline finish is the finish making the best use of the strong points from each of the two different dyes.
